It also teaches coordination and also promotes teamwork, sharing, and cooperation. Soccer, as we know today, has not been around for very long, however, its roots are traced back to several ancient civilizations throughout the world, some of them as old as 3000 years. Soccer promotes teamwork, confidence, improved health, and has evolved from a simple game to a popular, worldwide sport. Health plays a major role in soccer. Soccer is a game of constant movement, keeps the muscles engaged over long periods of time, which is a great exercise. Soccer involves running, walking, sprinting and jumping. These movements require a huge amount of endurance for an athlete. Without being healthy and fit, people would live a shorter life. Soccer players run an average of six miles every game. There are over 1000 activity changes in soccer so each player can get enough exercise per game or even a practice. As Henry Ford said “Coming together is a beginning, staying together is a process, and working together is a success.”Teamwork helps with making new friends, getting to know people a little bit better, getting more confidence. If players do not work well as one team, chances are they are not going to be as successful as a team that gets along and works together. The team is in the name teamwork, so work as a team. To succeed at teamwork everyone involved needs to combine their efforts and find what they have in common and what they don’t.
