Traditionally men have always dominated the world of sports however, in recent year’s women’s sports has become popular. Although women’s sports has taken a huge jump forward, they still don’t receive the same financial earnings for playing the same sports in the same arenas as their male competitors. Being in the twenty-first century, one would think sexism wouldn’t be an issue anymore, but that statement seems to be false. Female discrimination in sport is still an important global issue and something must be done about it soon. In Canada, it is a right to be able to participate in sport. In the 1982 ‘Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms’, under the fundamental freedoms, it states that everyone has the freedom of association (d). This means everyone has the right to be included and no one should ever be left out or excluded. Canada is a country where race, age, religion, sex, mental and physical disabilities should not be an issue, but yet they still are. No female should be excluded from sport and should get payed as equally as men. Even though men have always dominated sport, it is never too late for women to step up and do something about it so they can finally dominate.…show more content…
Some look up to movie stars and actresses and others look up to athletes. Girls that look up to athletes could have a big problem in the future if female discrimination in sport still continues. If females get excluded in sport and don’t do anything about it, those young girls who look up to these athletes could loose all of their courage and self-confidence. For the rest of their life, they would always have a low desire to achieve and might never succeed just because those athlete let them down and didn’t do anything about their situation. We can’t let the next generation of children end up like low achieving, uncourageous people, so we need to do something about female discrimination in
