In “Resetting The Addictive Brain” by: Adam Piore it starts out with the summary of a woman who was undergoing a surgery to reset her addiction to drugs. This wasn’t rehab but a neurosurgical procedure to reset the “addictive” component in her brain. During the surgery an electrode was placed into her cerebral cortex. (the part of the brain that deals with thought and reasoning) Doctors moved the electrode until her tremors and “blipblasts” (sound of brain cells firing) became in sync. Then the electrode was taken out and replaced with a permanent one. Her tremors immediately stopped. As long as she had the device properly functioning and turned on she would never have tremors again. I think this is an amazing new find in the medical world.
