Even though 38 Dakota were hung on the 26th of December, the white settlers weren't satisfied with just that. The white settlers never seemed to be satisfied. The white settlers wanted both sides of land of the Minnesota River which made the whites and Dakota go to war and decided to starve the Dakota which killed many. Adding on, the whites put the Dakota on a barge that was sent from Minnesota to Iowa and from Iowa to South Dakota. Having to Dakota on a barge helped the whites control the Dakota. Starvation was one of the main plans from the whites, helping them by killing off the Dakota. Next, the whites would pay $500 if someone brought back the scalp of a Dakota. The name "Red Skin" comes from the cutting off of the scalps of the Dakota.
