Rachel Watson’s life is a structured mess as she goes through her routine the same way on a daily basis. While on the 8:04 commuter train that she catches every morning to fool her housemate, Cathy, into thinking she still has a job, Rachel peacefully scrutinizes the life of a seemingly perfect couple that she is longs to be just like. Rachel’s instability and alcoholism eventually catch up to her when she finds herself caught in the center of a crime in which she cannot remember a single event from. In this journal I will be evaluating Rachel’s ongoing search for identity, love, and truth. In The Girl on the Train, Rachel struggles with finding her identity. She is lost. At one point, she knew who she was and seemingly had everything figured
