Psychological Perspective in Health and Social care Behavioural Approach The behaviourist approach believe that by association or as a cause of reinforcement individuals learn to behave in reaction to the environment. There are two main theorist who looked into two main theories of behaviourist approach. Ivan Pavlov was the theorist that looked at classical conditioning theory and B.F Skinner looked at the operant conditioning theory. The first time Pavlov rings the bell and there was no response as shown above. Second time, Pavlov rings the bell and at the same time serves the food to the dog and the dog starts to salivate. After repeating the same thing for several times the dog starts to get classical conditioning. Finally, when the dog hear the bell sound it starts to salivate as it has now associated the food with the sound of the bell and the dog knows when the bell is rings it will get food. B.F Skinner's operant conditioning behaviourist approach Skinner's full name is Burrhus Fredrick Skinner, who was born in 1904 and died in 1990. From Harvard University Skinner got his doctorate education. Operant conditioning was first studied by B.F. Skinner. The importance of the consequences of the behaviour has been the difficult contribution of Skinner's feature. To change client's possibilities of reinforcement he observed therapy. Skinner believed that from evolutionary collection all reinforces obtained their power. Skinner believed through the process of reward and punishment human and animal learnt
