In the Old English poem, Beowulf., the main protagonist, Beowulf is often demonstrating artful acts of pridefulness throughout the first part of the story. While part of his character shows humbleness by giving God glory “Beowulf was mindful of his mighty strength…God had showered on him…relied for help on the Lord of All.” (lines 1270-1272), his pridefulness highlights his flaws, showing more of round character rather than a flat character.
