Pinterest Meeting Reflection

Attending the Student Pennsylvania Education Association kickoff/Pinterest party was quite enjoyable! I can say I learned a lot in just an hour of being there and I can also relate a lot of the information to First Year Seminar, not only the material, but also the teaching strategies the members of the club used. First, I learned a great deal of information about the club, upcoming events and how to use Pinterest as an advantage to teaching. The president and other members of the club showed us an informative video explaining what the club was. Then, the leaders told us about classroom building skills, like using Pinterest and volunteering opportunities. The president then began to inform us of upcoming events, such as an important conference/convention for Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA). The PSEA meeting was very organized and the leaders had all of the materials set up before the meeting started, they also had a very neat and organized power point and each speaker knew what they were going to say. The speakers had strong “teacher voices”, they projected their voices to the crowd and everyone in the room could here who was speaking (Student 2015). Also, the leaders of the meeting had excellent time management skills; they were watching the clock and new how long the power point should take. Next, I could see a little bit of an idealistic philosophy; they did this by giving us choices and letting us by creative while participating in the activities (Farris 2014). Lastly, everyone in the room had a very positive attitude, especially the president of PSEA. She was very enthusiastic about the meeting and seemed to be an exceptional role model for not only me, but also the other students at the meeting (Student
