The rusty metal cart groaned up the rickety rail, its gears grinding and clicking furiously as it struggled to ascend. Tension mounted as regret, fear, and nausea consumed the tiny cart’s passengers. Finally, they reached the climax and, for a brief instant which seemed to stretch into infinity, they remained frozen in their precarious position. Suddenly, the cart plummeted downward and several passengers squealed in delight while a few grimaced as they fought to retain the contents of their stomachs which threatened to appear at any moment. In a matter of seconds they had completed an intricate series of loops, drops, turns, and twists; the ride was over.
