Growing up in a Haitian culture and environment influenced me in almost all aspects of my life both in and out of school. As a child growing up, my grandparents would tell me stories about my ancestors and their contribution to the Haitian Revolution of 1804. Hearing and imagining these stories my grandparents told, inspired me to work assiduously, diligently and persevering towards my life goals. Also to remain true to myself and not forgetting where I come from. My ancestors ability to take action and fight for their culture and beliefs for their country taught me about the true power of unification and resolution of one's faith that can bring change to a nation. Know having me as their child they wanted the same values set in stone in me. Growing up in a household with strict parents has affected my lifestyle and my perspective on certain things; I would always seeing my parents do their best to raise and provide for me and my brothers. In doing and showing me that formed in me a flowing water of thankfulness and gratitude showing me the goodness of giving and do all you can for somebody and not receiving nothing in return. Because of the influence of my parents and the Haitian culture it showed me how my family, overcame obstacles that came in our lives throughout these years and because of those things that were present and installed in us is what made me into the christian that I am today. There were many influential factors that guided me throughout my adolescence years.
