Reading the passage, White Privilege written by Peggy McIntosh, brought up different advantages that whites don’t even realize that they have. She discusses how racism occurs without us even realizing it, that it’s a part of daily life and happens in everyday situations. The example that struck out the most to me was about band-aids. Something so simple, yet so complex. At least once a week I find myself in need of a band-aid or someone around me needs one, carrying around in my bag with me a few band-aids that are flesh tone. Never before did I think that it being a tan, neutral color that it’d be a completely other story for someone of a darker color than me, the questions if they were abnormal or didn’t fit in ever pop into my head.
