In Erik Nielson's short article entitled “Patriotism Should Not Be Promoted In Schools”, Nielson describes all the ways in which saying the Pledge of Allegiance should not be required of school students. His first argument against the topic was the questionable past of the Pledge. While some may be more comfortable thinking that a patriotic soldier composed the pledge on the battlefield, sadly it was not.
