Natty Bumppo and Marmaduke Temple both want to see the beauty in natural resources. However Natty wants to see the beauty that does not affect the Native American life. Marmaduke wants to civilize the place. He says to his daughter Elizabeth, “ wild and unsettled as it may yet seem, it must have been a thousand times more dreary then”( Chapter 2). He mentions his daughter that he already builds roads, and building in the open wild place. here the contrast difference between natural beauty vs creative beauty is very sharp that separates Natty and Marmaduke’s opinions. But they both want to take care the natural resources and they do not want to destroy it.

He says, “But all the other treasures of the wilderness, they already begin to disappear before the wastful extravagance of man” (Chapter 23). He thinks his valuable land is in risk, and it needs care for future development. The pioneers excessive use of land and harvests are bad… He thinks this wildplace has treasures but it is limited. So, people should not missuse it. His opinion suggests, if anybody use other people land, he has to pay for it. He is worried for wasted natural resources.
