During my senior year in high school, the guidance counselor met with me and asked me, what were my plans after high school? I responded I had no plans. After reviewing my transcript, she suggested I consider going to New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) and study engineering since I showed great strength in mathematics and science. I took the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and did not score very well. My guidance counselor told me that I could be accepted at NJIT through the Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) and would have to spend the summer in school at the college.
