In this generation of athletes, playing a sport past the high school level is a honor and a privilege. A sport I always find interesting since growing up with all brothers, is Football seeing it goes past the collegiate level and creates a career path for many men. There are many similarities and differences between NCAA Division 1 Football and the National Football League itself. There are many unique differences between the two which make them more distinct from another, but it is still the same game you find playing on TV every weekend in the fall. The NCAA is the National Collegiate Athletic Association is made of roughly two hundred and fifty-two teams, located nationwide at local universities and colleges. The NCAA gains male players by recruiting the top male football players from high schools located around the United States, most have been playing since a young age. A typical season will run from the start of preseason in August, until the championship game in February. A roster size for a Division 1 team is around eighty-five male athletes.

These players then sign a contract, instead of a letter of intent. The amount of teams that make up there NFL is also a smaller amount and there is not one in each state, unlike the NCAA where every state has a division 1 school. The players are more of an elite level having to put in longer hours and a stronger work ethic knowing this is their job and they could be replaced.
