Music blaring from a live band, crowds dressed in green and yellow dancing in joyful celebration, the succulent smell of deep fried pastries, a colorful parade, and a reunion of old friends. This is the Brazilian Festival. On this day, people from all walks of life may experience a little bit of the culture in Brazil, but it is especially a day of importance and celebration for all Brazilian Americans. People come from miles around to be reunited with each other that day, fulfilling a part of them that misses their home country and also helps to remind them of their culture and their past. On this day, one particular visitor was especially excited to go: my Brazilian American mother. Here she was able to see and celebrate with many of the people
