Losing is not an option for me, Misty May Treanor. Kerri Walsh Jennings and I won three straight gold medals and are considered the greatest beach volleyball team of all time. I was born on July 30, 1977 in Los Angeles, California. My dad, Bob "Butch" May, was a professional volleyball player. My mom, Barbara May, was a professional tennis player. However my mom loved to play beach volleyball with my dad. When I was young I danced, and played tennis, soccer, and volleyball. When I was eight I played in my first volleyball tournament with my dad. Growing up both of my parents had difficulty with drinking, "Trying to cope with their problems shaped my personality. It's the reason I'm so quiet.
