Humans rely greatly on sight. Also our society has stressed the importance of physical appearance. First impressions sometimes are solely based on physical appearance and we judge one off their physical imperfections. The essay “Of a Monstrous Child,” author Michel de Montaigne exemplifies the importance we put on physical appearance, and powerfully uses imagery and descriptive language to describe conjoined twins and herdsmann to argue that regardless of physical imperfections humans need to be accepting of all. Montaigne uses imagery and descriptive language continually throughout his essay. He describes the birth defects that conjoined twins possess.
