Reid DuFault Mr. Pulley Forensics Honors 27 September 2015 The Murder of Meredith Kercher The murder of Meredith Kercher was one of the most controversial cases in modern history. Lots of people consider this to be one of the biggest miscarriages of justice in the 21st century. This case is still relevant today, and will never be forgotten. This case started on November 1st, 2007 in Perugia. Meredith Kercher was found murdered in a bedroom in her cottage. She was stabbed in her throat by a knife. The way she was stabbed made her blood get onto the walls, the floor, and Kercher herself. When police arrived on the scene, Amanda Knox was the first person seen, and was supposedly acting strange. After being questioned relentlessly, Knox, exhausted and scared, gave in and gave a vision of what she think might have happened, which involved her boss, murdering Meredith which Knox was blocking out the sound with her hands. She also claimed that the police hit her when she didn’t remember a fact correctly. Amanda, Raffaele, and her boss, Patrick Lumumba were then arrested on the 6th. The Police claimed, “case closed”, but then found more evidence. They found lots of evidence for a fourth suspect, named Rudy Guede. They found his handprint in Meredith’s blood, his DNA on Meredith, and DNA on her purse. Also, the police found almost nothing against Amanda, Raffaele, and Patrick. Patrick after getting arrested claimed he had an alibi. His alibi was he was at the pub all evening with his friends, and Patrick was released from the police. Meanwhile, the story was adding up against Guede. Guede had a history on breaking into homes by throwing rocks at windows. This was the same at the crime scene, her window was broken by a rock. But, the media was convinced it was Amanda and Raffaele and posted lots of malicious things about them. The public opinion had been
