What is leadership? Leadership is the process whereby one individual influences other group members toward the attainment of defined group or organizational goals (Jerald Greenberg 471). There are many different types of leadership styles that are in the world today; however, I will introduce a servant leadership – the best leaders are able to lead by serving the needs of their followers before themselves. The best way if you want to learn clearly about servant leadership is to study some successful leaders cases by learning their skills of leadership and wonderful characteristics. He was a very dedicated man. He fought for what he believed in and what he thought was right. The reason why I would want to have all the qualities of Martin Luther King Jr. would be because then I would have the courage to stand up for what is right and what I believe in. I would love to have the great leadership traits that he possessed. Robert K.Greenleaf as a Servant Leader The servant-leader is servant first. It begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve. Then conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead. The best test is: do those served grow as persons; do they, while being served, become healthier, wiser, freer, more autonomous, more likely themselves to become servants? (Robert K. Greenleaf ) This is different then an individual who wants to lead first. By serving others, a servant leader will automatically lead amongst his peer by example. A servant leader will be able to accomplish their goals through the other individual and earns respect amongst their peers by holding them to the highest-priority (Sendjaya & James, 2002) This is effective and efficient for the leader because they can work through their followers in accomplishing
