2008 was certainly a year filled with unforgettable moments. Beijing hosted
the Summer Olympic Games, The Dark Knight thrilled audiences in theaters, and
Barack Obama was elected president. For Maggi Brown, 2008 would be a year she
will never forget. Her sister, at just the age of eighteen, passed away of bone
cancer. While Maggi’s sister was undergoing treatment, a charity called The
Frances Foundation came in and change the Brown’s lives forever. Not only did
they send Maggi’s sister to Arizona to make sure she received the treatment she
needed, they also gave Maggi countless reasons to keep smiling during this
