What instruments are used? Typically Rock Music centred on an electric guitar as well as an electric bass guitar and drums. How does the music sound? Typically, rock is song-based music usually with a 4/4 time signature using a verse-chorus form, but the genre has become extremely diverse. Like pop music, lyrics often stress romantic love but also address a wide variety of other themes that are frequently social or political in emphasis. The dominance of rock by white, male musicians has been seen as one of the key factors shaping the themes explored in rock music. Rock places a higher degree of emphasis on musicianship, live performance, and an ideology of authenticity than pop music. Sound Quality The acoustic environment in which a recording takes place is able to provide an identifiable character to an audio recording. How can we measure sound quality? Tupac Shakur (June 1971 – September 1996) also known as 2Pac, was an American rapper and actor. Tupac sold over 75 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling musicians of all time. Two of his albums, All Eyez on Me and his Greatest Hits are among the best-selling albums in the United States. He began his career as a Roadie, Backup Dancer and a MC for the alt-hip-hop group Digital Underground, from who he eventually branched of and began his solo career. The themes of a lot of his work were centred on the violence and the difficulties with inner city life he had growing up. His parents, and a lot of his family, were member of the black nationalist and socialist organization ‘Black Panther Party’, from his music you can see how much this influenced him. Nearing the end of his career, Tupac was a leading voice in the rivalry between West Coast and East Coast rappers. This often brought him into conflicts with other rappers, producers and record labels, most notably, The Notorious B.I.G and his label Bad Boy Records.
