In the movie Slumdog Millionaire, we meet Jamal Malik, a caring and compassionate young man from India. Although they may possess similar character traits, Emily and Jamal differ in more ways than one. Emily Grierson is a southern sheltered woman. She has grown up in the same house her whole life and with only the company of her father. Her father kept her at home and chased away any potential suitors. By examining Emily’s behavior and her relationships, it is very much possible that Emily is unbalanced. One can even say she is mentally ill.
