Ly Syin Lobster is an overcomer. Her early influences in life were reading, Christianity, and abuse. As teenage she became interested in writing as a way to express herself. She started writing for her church newsletter. After graduating from high school, she was interested in pursuing print media but the college she attended, Southwestern College, did not offer print media. To overcome this obstacle She was actively involved in storytelling through being on staff at the college newspaper which lead to an internship at the local daily paper. Leadership has been a part of her life since she was a teenager. She was youth day chairperson twice at Central Baptist Church. In college, Ms. Lobster was president of the Multicultural Student Organization
