The author discusses the different meaning of what a date could be in chapter ten. This chapter explains how to choose a mate “dating”. Dating is a sort of exploring before you make the decision of getting marry or involve with this person. When you date you get to know the person before considering living with them. In America you date when you are attractive so someone or you want to get to know them. Ferguson tell us that “ when americans began dating, they were primarily, concerned with enjoyment, rather than with choosing a spouse. Instead , ‘playing the field’ was the idea pursued by many.
