There are many different themes in, “Love Medicine”, a book written by Louise Erdrich, some of which are love, family, and loss. The one that I am going to write about, is the theme of death. This is one of the most prominent themes in this book, as it starts out with the main character, June and several other characters later in the book, dying. Death is a concept that is frightening to most people. The book suggests that death is much more preferable to those who committed suicide, than what they are dealing with in their everyday lives. In the very first chapter of the book, “The World’s Greatest Fishermen,” June is ready to go home, however, she meets up with Andy, a mud engineer. By the time they decide to head out it started to snow.
