“Identity” Paragraph In the short film “Identity” by KJ Adames, the filmmaker uses the symbol of masks and its subsequent removal, as well as a reference to Plato’s Allegory of the Cave to show that society influences who we are and what we believe to be true. Initially, there is a group of girls wearing yellow masks who surround a poster which only recognizes them for their beauty. Apparently, the poster influences the girls’ perspective on appearance because of how they mimic its message on what it means to look beautiful. It is clear that these girls from the film follow the same rules of beauty; this is how they are able to fit in with their peers.
