Judge Me A Fool In Antigone
173 Words1 Page
After getting caught trying to bury her brother, Antigone said to her uncle Creon, “And if you judge me a fool, perhaps it is because a fool is judge” (211). An argument between the two family members, an argument about what is right. Antigone, after having her parents die and her brothers slay each other, would face death itself to see her beloved brother buried. Her loyalty to her family rather than to the country, is what set the niece and uncle apart. Antigone, outraged that her uncle of all people would deny family this, states, “Not a man here would say the opposite, were his tongue not locked in fear” (212). Antigone believes that had no one feared Creon, they would rebel against him too. The people would agree, had it been their brother.
