In chapter 13 the reader learns of issues surrounding rape against women and how this issue relates back to politics. Nobel Peace Prize winner Laureate Leymah Gbowee declared that “rape and abuse is the result of a larger problem,…the absence of women in the decision-making space….” (HCWGSC, 2015. p. 383) The debate on rape against women has been one that affected society then and now, thousands of women each year are impregnated due to rape, for years women did not have reproductive rights therefore rape and domestic violence was ignored by law enforcement. Two other main issues addressing women as well as rape are low pay in the work force, and discrimination. These issues are due to a lack of women in politics, to see change and recognition
