NUM is trained to oversee the whole unit from staff to patient care. They have extensive experience and training in nursing (clinical experience) administrative skills and management. Moreover, they have clinical leadership skills which allows them to handle any situation in a right way to improve patient experience in the hospital. A NUM has the responsibility to look after the whole unit for staff, patient care and budget.
Similarities and differences of the staff can be a treasure to a workplace when accepted and valued respectfully. A NUM can take advantage of the diverse age groups at workplace. Both mature aged people and young aged people have individual skills which if used together can make the patient experience better and less
