Immanuel Kant was a German Philosophy professor who discussed this idea of “acting out of duty”. This principle basically means that we have moral obligations to act correctly in regard to every choice we make. We as people have multiple decisions to make on a daily and how we act in accordance to morals will go hand and hand if we are acting out of duty. We can consider duty and moral code to be the same thing. It is a matter of duty for customers not to walk into department stores and steal.
