ISIS is an acronym which stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria and it’s also been known as ISIL which is the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant. ISIS has gained worldwide publicity and attention after capturing areas within Iraq in the process of establishing an Islamic State. ISIS has been called a terrorist organization, I agree with that statement but they also should be considered a militia that is very well trained in guerrilla warfare tactics. It could also be described as a militant movement, having conquered areas in western Iraq and eastern Syria in an effort to create an official Islamic state.
