Main idea: Using historical evidence, Howard Zinn’s article “A Just Cause” addresses the immorality of war and the carnage that it bestows upon mankind. He laments that warfare cannot be justified when it involves killing, injuring and displacing innocent civilians and combatants. Throughout the years war has proven to be futile in the end as it rarely accomplishes the desired results. The vast resources wasted on military equipment, caring for the men and women who serve, supporting the families of the deceased, and repairing those who came back wounded should instead be spent on rebuilding our infrastructure, improving our schools and helping the disabled and elderly and others who need extra assistance.
I agree with Howard Zinn’s view on
