The hip hop mastermind, born on October 17, 1972, in Saint Joseph, Missouri. He was named the King of Hip Hop by Rolling Stone Magazine, selling more then 155 million albums and singles combined. Eminem is considered by just about everyone to be an absolute lyrical genius. Marshall Mathers is also genius, using rhyming techniques that other rappers would never think to put together. He is the person who just wants to go back to his family after a show, who never wanted to be famous. In contrast, there is Eminem’s alter ego, Slim Shady, who is always high and often offensive. He can be serious, but can still show a wild and "don’t care" side to everyone. He is a lyrical rapper who just goes on stage and raps without wanting to surround himself in the unnecessary malarkey. He also, raps about more serious stuff, like being in recovery. The best songs to describe Eminem are: "Won't back down," "No Apologies," "Till I collapse," and "Sing for the Moment." Eminem has a positive influence on African Americans teenagers, because Eminem comes from a community where life and death decisions are faced regularly. African American teenagers could identify with Eminem's music and the frequent stresses of the teenager with added pressure. Some of the best songs that clearly shows' the Slim Shady persona are: "My Name is," "Real Slim Shady," "Just Don't Give a ****," and "Just Lose It." Slim Shady has a negative impact on White America, they didn’t like him and the feeling was mutual. White America tried to control Slim Shady as much as possible, by censoring him and his music due to the fear of him becoming a big influence.
