In history, when a country is facing a specific problem, many leaders and role models rise to try to solve it. For example, people such as Desmond Mpilo Tutu, who have shaped society and the world - South Africa in particular - have changed views about religion, sexism, racism, and apartheid (Bio, 1). The world needs people such as Archbishop Tutu who dedicate their lives to make the world a better place. Considering Desmond's early life was very difficult, he initiated drastic change specifically in black society and in the world in general. Through hardships and unjust discriminations, Desmond Tutu challenged and eventually eliminated the apartheid using powerful yet nonviolent methods. Early life played a huge role in Desmond Tutu's life. Many reforms and events took place that heavily impacted his mindset and opinions on religion and the apartheid. Why do people fear? If Desmond Tutu, a black granted with very limited rights, went head to head with the South African government, many things are possible. Needless to say, Desmond Tutu is seen as a role model and as a public figure. Men, women, and children confidently defend and talk about Desmond because they supported him from day one. "They should be very active if they believe that the world belongs to God, and politics is a very important part of the world, then they must participate in political affairs because they are alive. And if they do not act neither as the leaven or the salt or the light, then this can go horribly badly wrong" (Chaurdry, 119).
