The civilization built next to the Indus Valley was very large and basically the size of modern, present day France. Crops were only possible to grow twice a year due to the harsh dry conditions most of the year, with the only times farming was available was when the river they settled near flooded. Archeologists have found communities from around 2600 b.c.e to around 1900 b.c.e with the urban sites Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro, best representing Indus Valley civilizations. These urban sites prove that people of the Indus Valley were very ahead for their time. Proof of this includes the fact of their writing system *(which included using symbols for syllables and words),and cities with tall and thick brick walls to protect them from possible intruders.
