“It is within ourselves to teach the next generation about the joys, wonders, and hardships of our people.” A Jewish Rabbi once said, We should follow the Rabbi’s sayings and teach the next youth about the events of the Holocaust. Although it was such an horrific event killing nearly 6 million people. Students learn about the Holocaust because it was one of the biggest genocides in history. The people leading the mass murder were terrible people. Students have to learn about how cruel they were so that the next generation won't become those people. For some of us, our grandfathers and grandmothers were involved in the war. Other people have family that died from the concentration camps or the gas chambers. Hitler was cruel and unjust and did his practices in unhumanly manors. The next children can’t become anything like the Nazis were. They have to learn that the Holocaust was terrible and we can’t let it happen again. I think that parents are conservative to the fact of there kids learning about the Holocaust because it was such a horrible and horrific event, and that kids may not be mature enough to see the pain that the Jews and others were forced through. I understand that hiding the Holocaust from your children helps them find some of the good in the world, but keeping them from it doesn’t help them in the future. A poet once said, “ A disturbing truth is preferable to a comfortable lie.” This means that we should tell our children about the Holocaust and let them know that there can be a man that will do unthinkable things. If we hide the people from it, then we are preceding the comfortable lie. To learn about the holocaust is to learn about the darker side of history. Not everything was perfectly calm.
