This did not Happen in the Book “Differences of habit and language are nothing at all if our aims are identical and our hearts are open.” (Rowling. 723). This quotation is said by Albus Dumbledore in the book Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Dumbledore says this while he is saying goodbye to the quest students from Durmstrang and Beauxbaton. The book came out in 2000 and there was a film adaptation that was released in 2005. The book version of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and the movie version, although similar, have a fair amount of differences. The book is the source of the material for the movie. One detail in the book is that Harry Potter, the Weasley family, and Hermione Granger sit in box seats with the Minister of Magic…show more content… For example, Harry, the Weasleys and Hermione have rather horrible seats while attending the Quidditch World Cup (Newell). Due to this detail being changed, we never meet the house elf Winky. In fact, Winky’s character is completely omitted from the film. A second example of changes made in the movie is that we see who casts the dark mark at the Quidditch World Cup (Newell). Although we see who casts the spell, we do not know the character’s name. Also, since Winky’s character was not included, Harry’s wand was not stolen and then used to conjure the dark mark. A third instance of change is when Dumbledore asks Harry, rather loudly and violently, if he had put his name into the Goblet of Fire. This specific change is the most irritating to me and other fans on the blogging website Tumblr. There is a gif, which is essentially a moving picture, that was made on how the line should have been delivered based on the description given in the book. Yet another detail that was changed in the movie is that Barty Crouch Jr. had just escaped, rather inconspicuously, from prison instead of having faked his own death. In the movie, they even explain how he broke out of the most inescapable prison. They even changed how Barty Crouch Jr. had begged to not be put into prison, to him being proud to sent to prison. One detail that was not changed from the book to the film was the three tasks and their order. They even used the same type of dragon for the first task. Also, true to the book, the movie had an unknown second task that had to be revealed through the dragon’s egg won in the first task. Basically, the movie changed certain details from the
