Ever since I was in high school I wanted to be a forensic scientist but it wasn’t until senior year when we got to dissect a pig when I realized pathology made for me. Forensic Pathology is a sub-specialty of pathology that focuses on determining the cause of death by examining a corpse. The autopsy is performed by a medical examiner, usually during the investigation of criminal law cases and civil law cases in some jurisdictions. Becoming a forensic pathologist is a long journey, having to go to school for six or more years. Being a forensic pathologist requires you to work long hours but if you love what you do then it’s not work. After graduating as a forensic pathologist it will be easier to get a job because the rate of growth of the field is estimated to be 19% from 2015 to 2020. Being a forensic pathologist gives you many benefits, not only is the salary good but so are health benefits and other. Becoming a forensic pathologist is not easy. It takes a minimum of 6 years of education and 5-6 in training after college to become a forensic pathologist. It also takes a strong stomach because it can be a gruesome job. And you need to have a lot of confidence in order to defend your conclusions in the face of opposition from lawyers, the media and even the victims’ families.…show more content…
