Introduction to Video Production – Assignment 1 Introduction I have chosen to analyse the opening credits of Michael Moores’ “Fahrenheit 9/11” (10:16 – 13:33). Although It might not have as much cinematic content as typical scenes, I find it the most powerful throughout the docu-film or any scene in the films available to analyse, as these shots were the precursor to the biggest conflict since Vietnam or even WWII. Afterall, cinema is supposed to tell a story, and hopefully invoke a feeling, which (to me anyway) this scene does. In this essay I intend to discover why this footage is so powerful, original and thought proviking. The cuts between begining credits and then to the interviwees will largly be ignored as they are repititious and only alternate credit, interviwee, credit, interviwee and so on. Although, in my view, parts of the credits have a purpose other than mere introduction. Such as the first caption “LIONS GATE FILMS” (10:26) & the second caption “DOG EAT DOG FILMS”, although these are just the names of the production companies they represent and speak a little of the values of these companies, and such wording in conjunction with the footage may invoke a subconscience feeling and mood for the viewing audience.
