History proves that prejudice leads to tragedy and genocide, as it has in the memoir Night by Elie Wiesel. The journey of Prejudice began when every Jewish human was given a yellow star. In addition to this, Elie was imprisoned in horrific concentration camps where the SS officers petrified him. He was too afraid to stand up for what he felt right. When Elie is finally set free, he looks in the mirror and sees just how much the camps have taken from him. Elie explains, “The yellow star? Oh well, what of it? You don’t die of it…” (6). The yellow star is the prisoner’s identity. If you have a yellow star on your card, like Elie and his father, it meant that you are Jewish, and you are not too far from your deathbed.
