1. Hawthorne uses vivid Imagery when explaining the beaks and eyes per say of the government as well as uses persuasive figurative language as he talks about his point of view. He also uses an extended metaphor as he compares the eagle to the US government by explaining the characteristics of the eagle as well the behaviors of it to the system. Hawthorne by using these types of metaphors he can give the reader a persuasive point of view on the US government system to the pros and cons of it. 2.
