Having Grit The word grit is expressed through many different actions, whether it’s overcoming an obstacle or pushing yourself to finish that last math problem. Displaying grit shows strength, courage, or just resolving a problem. Grit is believing in yourself because you know you can do it. Incorporating grit into everyday life can help reach long term goals such as, becoming a better learner as well as enjoying learning because you know you can accomplish it. “We define grit as perseverance and passion for long-term goals. Grit entails working strenuously toward challenges.” (“Mindsetonline”). People argue that having grit all depends on a certain mindset, fixed mindset or growth mindset. Having a fixed mindset is the opposite of being gritty, a person with this mindset stay at their comfortable stage without branching out to learn more things, afraid that it might lead to failure. Based off the videos like The Power of Belief by Eduardo Briceno and readings, I have reviewed that Growth mindset is exactly what it sounds like, growing to learn more knowledge. I am going to study for my Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) test, make an appointment, and pass the quiz. Before the summer had started I studied and was confident on passing but when the time came there were questions that I’ve never seen before, therefore I failed the test.
