Victoria Lindsay Personal statement Nursing is a very challenging and demanding career, however I feel it would be very rewarding and that I am ready to begin my very important training. I am dedicated to pursuing a career in which I am able to help and care for people, becoming a nurse would enable me to do this. I believe that I have the foundations of the skills that a nurse would require such as good people skills and being able to get on with people, happily work as a member of a team and being able to deal with emotionally charged situations. I genuinely want to make a difference to people, to assist them and their families through difficult times when they are at their most vulnerable. Having someone there to talk and listen to them will not only have a positive impact on them, but helping someone through their hardest hour will give me the most overwhelming and blessed feeling. Having served elderly people in my short experience in a care home has taught me to find positive value in life and giving generously of myself. I have also learned to stay calm and reassuring in emergency situations. I strongly feel that my skill sets and my experience will surely help me excel in this service oriented job.…show more content…
I attended this for a short period before it had to be cut short due to a serious virus being transmitted around the nursing home. However, I am determined to get further work experience and I am in the process of using my contacts within the health profession, to help me set up a block work placement in a hospital environment in early 2015.
