Empowered Latino Community
The the Latino community has come a long way in fighting for equal rights, but this is just the first chapter. Although the number of Hispanic students attending college has increased year by year, we are no where near our goal. Many Latinos and Latinas are working high skilled jobs, we still need more and more Hispanics working in the engineering, medical, and mathematics field.
In order to achieve our goals of expanding the Latino community in the United States, we need to empower ourselves. One major way the Latino community can empower itself is by giving more opportunities to individuals to learn and equipped the skills and knowledge needed to earn a living. This can be done only through education. The Latino community can offer more scholarship opportunities towards hard working Hispanic students. In addition, the Latino community should extend more employment opportunities ranging form jobs to internship, where students can earn more income to afford a postsecondary education, while gaining job experience and knowledge. There’s not need to be free money and free health insurance given away to improve the lives of older Hispanics, but something so simple such as groups of interest can make an enormous improvement within the Latino community and empower itself. Within organization such as workshops, Hispanics can communicate and learn from each other on how to battle problems socially and economically.
