II. Emily’s Life
Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was born on December 10th, 1830 in Amherst, Massachusetts.
She grew up in Amherst, never leaving except on a vacation with her family to Philadelphia in 1855, choosing to live in her parents house for her adulthood.

Other people close to her that died in the years before her death included: Reverend Charles Wadsworth, her young nephew Gilbert, and Judge Otis Taylor Lord.
