Drunk Drivers An accident can change a person’s life. Being involved in an accident with a drunk driver, no that is a completely different story. During Easter of 2012, my mother and I were on our way to Acme supermarket to pick up some jellybeans for my brother and cousins’ Easter egg hunt. We hopped in the car, buckled our seat belts, as we always do, and took off. Waiting at the read light across the street from Acme, my mom turned down the music so we could continue our conversation. My mom, in mid-sentence, mumbled, “I hope she…” and at that very moment, I heard a loud screech to tire rubber sliding on concrete, and bam; a loud bang like the sound of dropping tools and glass breaking. All the woman could do was beg my mom not to call the cops. My mom in fact called the police at that point. The police arrived moments after the call was made, we were told to move out of the street and across the street to the Acme parking lot. One police officer asked me if I was ok, and other than the pain from the seat belt tightening on my shoulder I was fine. He then asked my mother the same question, and she was having some pain in her lower back from the impact. The officer noted that in his report.
