Everyone is different from everyone. Each person has his or her manias and way of thinking, however, inside of all differences, people have similarities. Odysseus and Don Quixote are very distinct heroes of literature, yet they have similarities. Even that Don Quixote is crazy, he is a hero in his head – the world that he created – and Odysseus is a hero in a created world too. Both of them are kind of snobbish because of all they have done, and both of them are pursuing love. In their battles and fights, they are motivated by their love to Dulcinea/Penelope. There are events that confirm their motivation, like Odysseus in Calypso`s island. Odysseus resists to her charm all the time, even knowing she was in love with him (Glencoe 864-865). Or Don Quixote that all the time during the story, talks about Dulcinea`s gratitude when he finds her. Both of them have just one target, get to their loved ones, Odysseus wants to go back to Penelope and his son, Telemachus. Don Quixote in the beginning of the story imagines that the windmills are giants and he has to fight against them (Chapter 8). Both of them wanted to fight, they did not need it, however they looked for it. Don Quixote created a fight in his head and attacked windmills thinking they were giants, while Odysseus created a fight against a cyclope.
