Craig Kielburger, a world famous social entrepreneur has taken the world by storm by helping end child labour in other countries. Craig Kielburger started his journey at only 12 years old after hearing the famous story of Iqbal being murdered. "I saw him as a hero for speaking out about child labor," says Kielburger." I suddenly understood that a young person can make a difference.” ( Jacobs, Jerrilyn). Kielburger started by co-founding Free The Children in 1995 when he was only 12 years old. To this day, Craig still works full-time for the organization. He also created We Day which took place on October 19, 2007 and involved 8,000 kids at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto (“Evolution of a Movement”). Craig was born in Thornhill, Ontario in 1982 where he grew up. He lived with his parents Theresa and Fred Kielburger, and his older brother Marc Kielburger. He went on a raid to free the children in factories and went with police when returned all the kids back home. Craig’s South asia trip was documented and called “Free the Children”. With free the children, Craig focused on his goals which included Canada to investigate to make sure imported rugs weren’t made by children and to change the laws in canada so police can charge Canadians for using child prostitutes in foreign countries. (1996) After all these accomplishments Craig has made, he held the first ever “We Day” with his brother Marc at the Ricoh Coliseum in Toronto with a remarkable 8,000 youth in attendance. We Day is an inspirational event run by an educational initiative called We Schools. “Together, they connect and empower a new generation to shift the world from me to we—from a focus on the individual to the power of community” (“We Day General Information”).
