As a child, one can just imagine the endless possibilities that life can hold for them. Not all children have the luck to make it to their adult or even teenage years. One of the videos to best show why, is Martina McBride’s video titled “Concrete Angel” which was first released in 2009. According to the video, there are kids who suffer abuse and most of them people are aware of it, but don’t know anything about it. Children, especially are innocent and don’t know what is it that is going around them so they of course don’t report it. Most people also can see the signs, but they decide to keep quiet for reasons unknown. I believe it is for all to be able to hear and understand. This message can be meant for parents, grandparents, neighbors, friends, aunts, and uncles, just anyone that may have a loved on that happens to be a child or know a child. Ethos The author, Ms. McBride, is building credibility by showing the little girl from the beginning of the video until the end. When she is focusing the story on her, it makes us understand what the video is all about. It’s sad because in the beginning it talks about how this young girl has packed her own lunch and is wearing clothes from the day before. At the end, it shows the little girl finally achieving her dreams and I quote “But her dreams give her wings and she flies to a place where she’d loved”. By using the little girl it gives credibility to show how severe child abuse can get. Logos Logos in the video is Martina raising awareness in child abuse. There are multiple types of child abuse, which as per americanhumane.org states that there is neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, psychological abuse and medical neglect.
